As some of you may know, our Academy is officially moving its downtown location at the end of this month to 342 Meeting Street, which is the Educational Building of the Second Presbyterian Church. After over a decade at 189 Rutledge, this truly feels like the end of an era. BUT, I am confident you will find the new space really exciting with its spacious rooms and plenty of natural light, children friendly and very secure. The best part - we can use the space ANY TIME of the day and night! There is a parking lot, too. Moreover, this beautiful historic site is at the heart of downtown Charleston, home to a Color of Music festival, Charleston Gospel Choir rehearsals, a very respectable preschool, and this year Piccolo Spoleto's Spotlight Series! Charleston Academy of Music will have an exclusive entrance from the side (off Ashmead Street) with a coded keypad. All students will be provided with the code to enter the building; you will be receiving a separate email with that information. The entrance will be clearly marked, with additional signs in and around the building. Parking options include the parking lot in the back of the building, 1-hour off-street parking, as well as meters.
I appreciate your patience with this transition and will be happy to address any questions you may have.
The last teaching day at 189 Rutledge will be Thursday, May 30. The first day at 342 Meeting will be Friday, May 31st.
Thank you all for the support you've given us so far; I hope you are as excited as we are for this new chapter in Academy's upcoming future as we operate in two locations - downtown and Mt. Pleasant - for the first time.
Have a great long weekend and Happy Spoleto!
